Interviewing a qualifier about his pre-conceived thoughts the night before the Grand Final Main Event.

Opening the event with a little speech.
In the background, to the right, is Garth Kay. Garth is the National Operations Manager for 888 Poker League- don’t mess with him when registering he’s tough.

Chatting to one of the players whilst on break.

Here I am seated on the feature table in seat three.

Jeff Fenech and I at the welcome party/charity auction night.

Being extremely fortunate I was given an opportune moment to briefly chat with Matt Damon before he commenced play in the Ante Up for Africa charity tournament. Already being a fan of his performance and after watching Invictus on the plane ride over to the US, I was all the more eager to chat to the very talented actor. I impose very as personally I find a South African accent is very hard to pull off convincingly if it’s not your native tongue. Especially whilst concentrating on the art of acting. So here is the brief moment I was able to indulge in of his very humble persona before his snappy pr lady got her whip cracking. Hence the abrupt cut and sign off at the end. Enjoy.

In less than a month I’ll be heading overseas air bound to the sandy deserts of the north-west. For a week I’ll be located in a notorious town full of party goers covering the most coveted tournament in Poker.
Yep. I’ve been invited to cover the World Series of Poker!
My presenting duties started earlier in the year for 888 Behind the Scenes. Since the days at Crown’s Aussie Millions to the recent trip at the Irish Open it has always been a non-stop tour de force. And now its off to the city of sin where they say the party never stops.
Have I mentioned it’s pretty sweet being part of the 888 Poker team?
And you can bet this time around there will be more adventure, more coverage and more shenanigans. Watch out for daily reports as I grab one-one interviews with the other 88 poker players flown in from around the world. And spotting the team players should be even easier now that we have a new blazing-blue 888 logo.
Enough rattling from me, all I can add is that I’m extremely excited and know that this trip is going to be the big one. So keep your eyes peeled for my smiley face direct from Vegas for www.888behindthescenes.com

Ireland was swell. The weather was a tad bit on the cool side especially at night however that’s when it was at it’s best to be uncovered. Temple Bar I would have to say is where the night life is and in the
Burlington hotel’s poker room the spot light was on the final few survivors during the
2010 Irish Open main event. Whereas team
888 poker shone the light on our star vip
Tyler Bonkowski.
Ty placed 19th out of 708 runners and cashed over 13’000 euro. It was a great boost to his confidence and for the next leg on his calendar for live tournaments. His next stop is.. Vegas for the WSOP!
I’d have to say this past week was definitely a successful and friendly, fun ride. If you were one of the lucky few who qualified online through
888 such as
David Docherty or
Papa Jack then you were also apart of all the genious bookings that
Lucy (new UK & Ireland Manager) had organised for us. Such as, the Guinness tour and the Irish dance classes as well as the cosy restraunts we tended to frequent as a group for dinner and no-one was left without a thought of knowing that they were apart of
Team 888. It was also great to meet some of the other vips who couldn’t make the 2010 Aussie Millions in January such as
Jolmer. Who insists he could not make it due to pre-booked commitments or as
Ernst likes to tell it as a
fear of flying as it’s a long way from Holland to Australia. All in all I too was welcomed by the team and felt the 888 bond due to our ongoing socialities and of course the poker. Let’s hope our next trip will bring even more adventure and perhaps a WSOP title to
888 poker. View the official website for all the updates, pics and videos of our trip in Ireland for the
2010 Irish Open www.888behindthescnes.com
